Here’s a great video showing how one fantastic model can move seamlessly between poses. Don’t think about your poses – move like no one is watching. Most of all have fun and play and be fancy free with your photographer in 8 out of 10 situations the reason why killer shots are born is because the model get into their zone!

One of my favorite photo tools in my arsenal is my reflector – I was luck enough to invest in one of the best models for a one woman photo show: a Lastolite 30″ TriGrip. This extremely versatile reflector may be all you need to reflect and diffuse any less than ideal lighting situations.

Finding a great outdoor location can be a challenge – between picking a location convenient for all members of the team shooting and having a back up plan if Mother Nature’s elements don’t cooperate.

I often work with new models, usually women whom are testing the water to see if modeling is something they’d like to pursue or something they can have fun doing and eventually earning some extra income from.
It’s hard for a photographer to work with new models because of the extra amount of direction they typically require so I’ve put together this list to give out to a few of my new models to help them prepare for their upcoming shoot. Using just your face first, then incorporating hand position use the mirror as your photographer to practice emotions and ideas.

Working with people or models is often a challenge when a ‘for fun’ photographer tries to switch gears from landscape photography or still life photography to portrait, fashion or lifestyle photography.
I’ve got 6 golden rules I follow whenever I work with a model. If the model is my best friend or a complete stranger I am always careful to follow these six rules because they have become habit and I think following them has helped lead to my success with shooting people!
